Jersey Pedestrians Association


Aims of the Association:
The Association was founded to raise awareness of the difficulties, problems and dangers of walking in Jersey and to campaign for better facilities and better policies for pedestrians.

The Group is represented on:
- Traffic and Transport Working Group of the Island Plan Review

Recent campaigns
- St. Helier Footstreets plan launched
- Danger to pedestrians caused by pavement closures and unplanned scaffolding obstructions on the streets of St. Helier
- Calls for States action on pedestrian issues, including traffic calming and pedestrian crossings
- Awareness of the The Jersey Highway Code among drivers, especially ped priority at junctions
- Difficulty for pedestrians in crossing junction after traffic light failure
- Continuous pavements across junctions in St. Helier
- Walking and cycling code for Jersey
- Better signing on the Waterfront
- Importance of walking as part of Jersey's Sustainable Transport Policy

Who are we?
The Chairman of the Association is Geraint Jennings, who leads a small but growing band of Jersey people who recognise that the Island needs a better deal for pedestrians.
