
The proposed central Footstreets zone
The proposed central Footstreets zone is bounded by Burrard Street - Minden Place -Bath Street - Snow Hill - Hill Street - Mulcaster Street - Esplanade - Conway Street - Broad Street - King Street - New Street.

These streets, and the streets within this boundary, would be designated as pedestrian priority with a low vehicular speed limit where pedestrians come first. These are some of the most commercially lively streets in St. Helier and contain most of the existing pedestrian precincts in Town. At the moment, space for al fresco eating and drinking, for street theatre, and even for groups of pedestrians to congregate are severely limited. By freeing space from vehicular use, and re-allocating it to people, the commercial, environmental, and social benefits become clear.
