My Vignale is a Lancia Flavia Vignale Series 1 (ie the Flavia 1500 series).  The Vignale cars had a 1721cc version of the engine.  I bought the car in 1991 as a basket case.  It had been modified from new by Hooper.  The story goes that it was bought new (to add to his other 7 cars) by a rich englishman who, with his wife, drove to the Riviera every year.  The man wanted an open top sports car.  His wife wouldn't let him have one as there would not be enough room for all her luggage.  They came to a compromise.  He could have his sports car if he had the boot adapted to take more luggage and had luggage made to match!

In addition to adapting the boot, Hooper did one or two other modifications including lining the inside of the hood with mohair, fitting electric windows and sun visors.

When I bought the car I was living in England and the car was registered 556 FLP.  I am now living back in Jersey and the car has been re-registered on Jersey plates as J94293

It took 5 years to get the majority of the work done and get an MOT and a further 3 years to get it to good enough condition to drive regularly.  I now use the car whenever it is sunny.  I have used it a lot and the hood hasn't been up in 3 years!

Here is my Vignale as it was when I finally got it back on the road properly in 1998.  It is pictured in front of Mont Orgueil castle in Jersey close to where I live.

Here are some more recent pictures (Sept 2001) of the car taken to send to the insurance company to get an agreed valuation
