The Padi
Open Water Diver Course is the first Padi course whereby divers learn
the foundational knowledge and skills they need to dive with a buddy,
independent of supervision.
The course
comprises of 5 knowledge development sessions whereby participants will
be required to complete a short quiz at the end of each one. Also, 5
confined water sessions whereby participants will learn the necessary
skills used by divers. These are then followed by 4 Open Water sessions.
On the final day participants will be required to complete a multiple
choice examination in order to qualify for the Open Water Diver Certification.
Padi Open
Water Divers are qualified to...
Dive with a buddy
(of the same certification or higher) independent of supervision within
the limits of their training and experience.
Obtain air fills,
scuba equipment, and other services.
Plan, conduct and
log open water no decompression dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres
when accompanied by a buddy in condition with which they have training
and / or experience.
Continue their dive
training with Padi.
Participants
must be 10 years of age or older (for Junior Open Water Diver) or 15
years of age or older (for Open Water Diver).
