Labourers

Clinical waste is an unavoidable by-product of a general hospital. It is sometimes surprising to see the amount of clinical waste which is accumulated in just one day.

All of the yellow bins in the picture below will easily be filled in one working day. The clinical waste is collected by labourers from designated points outside of each ward within the Hospital and transported to either these yellow bins or others placed elsewhere.

A driver from the Labour Pool drives a dedicated lorry (in the background by the chimney) which transports 11 clinical waste bins at a time and takes them to have their contents incinerated and then returns empty ones to be filled again.
