While some gardening tasks involve greenhouse work, some require brute
strength. This bank and hedge stretch the whole length of the Clinique
Pinel block of land between Clinique Pinel on one side of the road and
Queens House (St Saviours Hospital) on the other.
A difficult bank to manicure
In order for the hedge to be trimmed, a gardening labourer has to lower
a fly-mower on a rope and pull it back up again. This hedge usually takes
about a day and a half to complete and this has to be done quite often
in the Summer months.
