Electricians
Blood plasma used for transfusion is imported and must be kept frozen
or it becomes useless for its purpose. Plasma is used to correct coagulation
disorders and is kept frozen until it is needed when it is then thawed
and administered.
Even something as ubiquitous as a freezer - albeit a very special freezer
- must be monitored and serviced by hospital electricians in case of failure
or error because it has such a serious purpose. This plasma freezer uses
a Woodley Temperature Control Monitoring System and is linked to the swithboard
by alarm.
A plasma freezer

Every area of hospital medicine depends upon the attention and skills
of the Engineering Department electricians, ranging from things which
can often be taken for granted such as lighting, to the identification
and replacement of a faulty circuit board in an Intensive Therapy Unit
heart monitor.
