The Computer Page

Anyone with a Home Page must have some interest in computers.
I started with a ZX81 some 15 years ago, and still have fond memories of it. Currently I have :-
My main interest is the Internet but I also use the machine to play with investment finances.

I like to write my own HTML - at least for the moment - and thought it would be helpfull to pass-on some of my experiences.
HTML is written on Microsoft's wordpad, and saved

  1. just as it is (as a Word for Windows .doc file),
  2. and also as a .html file "Text Document".
I found Tony Alexandre's Home Page very usefull at first,
as was NCSA's Beginner's Guide to HTML.
Now my most usefull reference is Microsoft's Authors Guide & HTML Reference which you can download from this location as a .zip file and then install as an interactive Help File on your Task Bar.
I test pages with both Netscape 2 & Explorer 3 before uploading them to Supernet.

File Transfer Protocol.
To upload and save my HTML page at Supernet I now use WS-FTP LE a freeware programme, available from 2 cows (ftp95) (spelt TUCOWS). It is very easy to use and works well. Keith has information on how to set it up for use with Hades.
I used to use CuteFTP (a shareware program) which is very easy to use after the first couple of bewildering visits to "hades", but since it's licence expired, and they wanted $35 for a key, I now use WS-FTP LE.

I used to use a Telnet programme HyperTerminal PE for changing the attributes of files I have saved on "hades", but now do this with WS-FTP LE.

Coming Soon

Christmas has brought a Sony Digital Mavica, and my experiences will appear here.

Resources

I'm very much a scrounger, and this site is built on immages, music, and HTML routines picked up from around the Web. Here are some of my favourites.
