There is a broad consensus in most formulations of the aims of Religious Studies that young people should:
a) Learn about the traditional belief systems and human experience, including religious traditions and their own beliefs and values. This is within the broadly Christian context of the college ethos.
b) Learn from this study, in terms of their own human development in its personal, social, moral and religious dimensions, and in terms of the community to which they belong.

One of the College aims is to "develop pupils' religious, moral and social awreness within the framework of Christian teaching". Therefore the Religious Studies programme aims to help the pupils towards a realisation of themselves, to accept themselves as people with a body, mind and a spirit. To be aware of the major world faiths especially the Christian beliefs and to see their responce to the challenges and problems of life in a predominantly Christian context.

Religious Studies at Victoria College attempts to meet the Attainment Targets presented in the Jersey Agreed Syllabus, by exploring meaning developing an awareness of the Spiritual dimension of life. It expresses this meaning by developing the ability to understand and interpret the variety of ways in which human beings express meaning. Above all it develops the ability of pupils to describe, understand and evaluate the beliefs and practices of the religious traditions, in particular Christianity, is shows Knowledge and Understanding of the Religious Traditions.

Pupils have the oppertunity to study Religious Studies to examination level at G.C.S.E. and Advanced Level. The latter includes the chance to study for Two 'A' Levels, Philosophy in the Lower Sixth and Christian Theology in the Upper Sixth.
